A Fun and Worthwhile Cause

The following volunteer positions are available:


Greeter

Welcome guests as they enter the facility, explain SOS mission, inform guests of donation options, hours of operations, no animal policy, and give a summary of the birds seen along the Bird Walk.


Docent

Available to those who would like to share their love of birds with visitors to SOS.  For individuals who enjoy speaking to visitors as they walk around our sanctuary and tell them about:

  • our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured birds
  • details about resident bird species
  • how specific birds were injured

Landscape & Facility Maintenance

Cut brush and vines, pull weeds, sweep walkways, empty trash cans, etc.  We also have carpentry, masonry, and other labor activities to satisfy the ambitious soul.


Office & Dispatch

Answer incoming phone calls, dispatch rescuers, assist CEO and hospital staff as needed, assist with various administrative duties.


Rescue & Transport

After rescue training is completed, be put on our call list to rescue injured birds from the area.  Transporting birds from the wild to SOS is also available and a nice introduction to rescuing birds.


Special Events & Public Programs

We are supported 100% by contributions.  Join us and help with set up, registration, and clean up of special events and public programs at SOS or elsewhere in the community.


No experience in being a guide or birder is necessary. If one of these opportunities interest you, and you can devote a minimum of 3-4 hours per week (or more if you so choose), please download the volunteer form and highlight your interest.
