Internships

Avian Internship
Full-time, Paid
• 10 weeks, 40 hrs/week, 400 hours total

• Available Spring, Summer, Fall
Open to college juniors and seniors, this full-time Avian Internship provides hands-on experience in wildlife rehabilitation and zoological care. Interns work alongside experts to care for sick and injured birds, as well as our 100+ resident birds. One year of prior animal care experience is strongly preferred.

Introductory Internship
Part-time, Paid
• 10 weeks, 12 hrs/week, 120 hours total

• Available Spring, Summer, Fall
Designed for college freshmen and sophomores, the Introductory Internship offers hands-on experience in wildlife rehabilitation and zoological care—no prior experience needed. Interns work three mornings per week (8 AM–12 PM) alongside our hospital and Avian Keeper staff to gain insight into animal care and wildlife medicine.​

ISP Mini Internship
Part or Full-time, Paid
• 4 weeks, hours TBD (based on school requirements)

The January ISP is a short-term internship introducing students to wildlife rehabilitation and the mission of Save Our Seabirds. No prior animal care experience is required.​

FAQs
• Do You accept out-of-state interns? Yes! We have welcomed interns from all over the country!
• Do you provide housing? Unfortunately, we are not equipped to provide housing at this time.
• Do you have any veterinary externships or post-graduate internships? Not at this time.
• Can I take a week off during my internship? No, this is a 10-week consecutive commitment.
• What are the dates? Dates are flexible within the semester, as long as it is 10 consecutive weeks.
• What is the timeframe for a work day? Interns work 8-hour days, 7:30am-4:30pm, with a 1-hour lunch break; Introductory Interns work 4-hour days, 8:00am-12:00pm.
